Heat (not boil) milk. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat slightly. Set
aside.
Heat 1/2 cup of sugar over low heat to melt. Pour into custard cups. Add
milk mixture. Place in shallow pan and add enough water to the pan so that
it comes up to ca. 1/4 of the custard cups.
1 hour - 325 F. Place on rack to cool. Cover and store in fridge.
